We began by asking professional and amateur photographers from around the world what they liked and disliked about HDR photography and studied how they were using existing HDR tools. A significant problem with many current HDR tools is that the tone mapping algorithm used is not scalable, which prevents them from offering accurate previews. When you use HDR Efex Pro, the visual presets and preview modes are being displayed using the same rendering algorithms as are used for the final output of your HDR image. This eliminates the need for going back-and-forth with test prints and ensures accuracy between what you see and what is output back to the host application (e.g. Photoshop, Lightroom, or Aperture).
